4 Super-Useful Chemical-Free Ways of Eliminating Weeds

No matter how carefully you maintain your garden or lawn, avoiding weed completely is an unfeasible option. But that doesn’t mean you cannot get rid of these pesky little “garden destroyers.”

And don’t worry, you don’t have to use those “chemical-induced” products in order to get rid of weeds. Here is a list of four effective, chemical-free ways of eliminating weeds.

1- Mulching

Mulching is a process that covers or smothers weed while conserving the moisture. A non-toxic mulch works in two ways: it provides effective weed control and breaks down to fertile soil.

2- Solarizing

To solarize, you will require placing thin clear plastic across any area you wish to kill weeds from. Keep the plastic placed on the area for the next four to six weeks. The sun will heat the ground while killing both weeds and weed seeds. However, the intense sun can kill beneficial organisms, too.

3- Flaming

Employ a propane torch to burn the weeds. But, ensure to take extreme care while doing so and wait until a non-windy day to undertake the procedure. If possible, use this method only in areas without plants, such as a concrete sidewalk, etc.

4- Hand weeding

Use a dandelion weeder – a tool with a forked end, to pry up the weed’s roots by digging a little dip into the soil. You can even pull the weed out as close to roots as possible if you don’t have the proper tool.

To be concluded

There you have it; these are some effective ways to kill lawn weeds naturally in New Zealand. You can also connect with Contact Organics to purchase non-toxic yet affordable weed controllers.
